Manchester United need a creative midfielder and reports suggest that they are serious about signing Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

According to UOL Esporte, the Red Devils have joined arch-rivals Liverpool in the race to secure the signature of the talented Argentine international.

The Brazilian news source have mentioned that to beat the competition from the Reds, Man United are prepared to agree a fee worth £106million to activate the release clause and seal the signing of the La Albiceleste midfielder.

Enzo joined the Liga Nos giants last summer from River Plate for an initial fee of 10 million euros.

The South American youngster directly contributed in 8 goals for the Eagles before the World Cup. In Qatar, he scored a sublime goal against Mexico and provided a crucial assist vs Poland in the group stages.

Moreover, the 21-year-old starlet featured in every single minute of the knockout stages to help Argentina win the ultimate prize.

For his consistent displays, Enzo Fernandez was named the Young Player of the Tournament. Therefore, it is not surprising that top clubs are looking to hire his services.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool need reinforcements in the center of the park. The Old Trafford outfit are yet to replace record signing, Paul Pogba.
