Man Utd should sign dynamic£35m World Cup star, Ten Hag admires him

Manchester United should look into signing Ajax star Mohammed Kudus when the transfer window reopens next month.

The Red Devils are on the hunt for a quality centre-forward in January following the release of Cristiano Ronaldo on a free transfer.

PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo has been identified as the leading target, but the Dutchman is primarily a left winger by trade.

With a price tag of around £65 million, the hierarchy may look at alternatives and in our view, Kudus could be a realistic target.

According to The Athletic, manager Erik ten Hag likes the ‘skill and dynamism‘ of the Ghanaian star and would be open to a reunion.

Man Utd should sign dynamic Kudus in January

Kudus played two seasons under Ten Hag at Ajax, but did not make much of an impression amid regular injuries and competition for places.

However, he has managed to redeem himself this term. The 22-year-old has registered an impressive 12 goal contributions in 21 games for Ajax.

He was also brilliant for the Ghana at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring two goals in the thrilling 3-3 draw against South Korea in the group stage.

Kudus would be a superb signing for United due to his immense versatility. This season, he has played as a striker or an attacking midfielder for Ajax.

He is also capable of operating from the number eight role or on the right wing. There are no surprises that Ten Hag is interested in a reunion.

The big hurdle could be Ajax’s stance. Everton came close to signing Kudus for £15m plus add-ons last summer, but Ajax blocked his departure.

It is now reported that he is valued at around £30-35m. Knowing Ajax’s tough negotiating skills, they could easily drive the price up to £50m.

United should be aware of this after signing Lisandro Martinez and Antony from Ajax last summer. It won’t be easy to prise away Kudus next month.
