Manchester United need to pay between €60-65 million to sign PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo in January, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claims.

The Red Devils recently parted ways with Cristiano Ronaldo by mutual consent and manager Erik ten Hag has since confirmed that the club could sign a new striker.

Gakpo is one of the players under consideration and Romano has now revealed that PSV have set a new price of €60-65 million including add-ons for the Dutchman.

The 23-year-old confirmed earlier this season that he was expecting to join United last summer and Romano reports that he is still keen on joining the club.

Manchester United must sign Gakpo in January

Gakpo has had a superb season for PSV, registering 13 goals and 17 assists from just 24 outings. He carried over the form to the World Cup where he scored three goals.

His performances should attract plenty of transfer interest in January, but United should have the advantage in the race so long as they meet the asking price.

The Netherlands international recently said that he would consider a move to United in January, having come close to joining them during the summer transfer window.

United have been given a clear hint that the forward wants to join them and they must sign him this winter or else they could miss out on his services altogether.

Arch-rivals Liverpool are also interested in Gakpo and they could make an approach for him after Luis Diaz’s fresh injury. The Colombian is out of action until March.

Meanwhile, Arsenal could likewise enter the race after an injury blow for Gabriel Jesus. Hence, United can’t afford to delay their pursuit and must land Gakpo in January.
