Manchester United Weighing Up £65 Million January Double Swoop

Manchester United are already looking ahead to the opening of the January transfer window.

The January transfer window is fast approaching in the backdrop of the winter World Cup and Manchester United’s recruitment staff are working behind the scenes to compile a list of targets.

Erik ten Hag is doing a great job with Man United so far. This can even be seen from some of the players’ performances at the World Cup, with Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford all picking up Man of the Match awards for their respective countries over the past 48 hours.

However, despite having spent £230 million on transfers over the summer, bringing in six new players to improve the first-team, the squad is far from complete if the side are to compete on all fronts this season.

As shown towards the end of the first half of the campaign, before football broke for the World Cup, United’s squad depth isn’t the greatest which led to some below-par displays from the side.

Ten Hag has already identified two potential player that the club can acquire in January, according to Fabrizio Romano in a recent interview here at The United Stand.

The Italian journalist stated that Man United were interested in bringing Bayer Leverkusen fullback Jeremie Frimpong to the club as well as PSV Eindoven forward Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo’s sensational performances for the Netherlands has seen his price soar to around £43 million from £30 million. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen are asking for just £22 million for Frimpong.

This means that Manchester United may be able to complete a double swoop in January worth £65 million for the two players.
