Man Utd: Ten Hag now ‘scouting’ £30m star at Old Trafford

Manchester United have been ‘scouting’ Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi ahead of a potential switch to Old Trafford, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive opening few months of the current campaign and has worked his way onto Erik ten Hag’s radar as he looks to continue his ongoing revolution.

What is the latest news involving Frattesi?

A recent report from Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that United were closely monitoring Frattesi’s progress, although they could face stiff competition for his signature.

It’s claimed that fellow Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur are also among the Italy international’s admirers.

Frattesi is believed to be valued at around €35 million (£30m) by Sassuolo, and the Serie A outfit will be in a very strong position around the negotiating table should a concrete offer come their way.

That’s because the box-to-box dynamo’s contract is not due to expire until the summer of 2026, meaning they can demand a sizeable fee for their prized asset.

What has Jones said about Frattesi?

Jones doesn’t believe that Frattesi can be compared to fellow United midfield target Frenkie de Jong and has eased any suggestion that a move could be imminent.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Idon’t think we can really compare him to Frenkie de Jong, and I don’t think I’d be looking at him along those sorts of lines, but they’re scouting him.

“But we have to consider United scout a lot of people, as does every club, it’s just one of those leaks that gets out that the club have been watching him.”
