Manchester United are looking to sign a new goal keeper and they have been linked with Diogo Costa for some time.
Last month, Diario de Noticias revealed the Red Devils are favorites to hire the services of the Portuguese international. Moreover, O Jogoreported that United will move for Costa if they opt to offload De Gea.
Earlier this month, the 23-year-old shot stopper penned a new deal with FC Porto until 2027.
As per Relevo, the Seleccao star could end up leaving the Primeira Liga leaders and agent, Jorge Mendes, is already looking at options in the Premier League.
The news source have mentioned that contacts have been made with PL sides like Manchester United and Chelsea, who are following the player closely.
It is stated that Costa has a very high release clause of 75 million euros (£64.5million) in his contract with the Dragons and Mendes will try to find a solution for his client’s future.
The young goalie has impressed big time in the Liga Nos and the Champions League this season and that is why, he is Portugal’s first choice goalie ahead of Rui Patricio at the World Cup.
Last night, in the opening group game against Ghana, Costa looked comfortable in possession and saved a few long range shots with ease.
He did concede two goals but the poor defense was mainly responsible and he could not have done much to save the close range shots.
