World Cup star forward ‘will be’ a Man United player in January, journalist claims

Manchester United have finally gotten rid of their Cristiano Ronaldo problem, with the Portugal international leaving after the mutual termination of his contract.

The search for a January replacement is no doubt well underway. The Red Devils absolutely have to sign someone as suddenly, they’re light in that area of the field.

No doubt several names will be linked between now and then, though one journalist goes big, claiming Man United will sign Cody Gakpo.

It’s Pedro Almedia with the information. He goes big and says the 23-year-old ‘will be’ a United player in the January transfer window.

Gakpo was linked somewhat heavily with a Reds switch over the summer, though that move never came to fruition with the Red Devils choosing to sign Antony instead.

By trade, Gakpo is a winger, though as displayed for his country at the World Cup, he can lead the line. That versatility is probably what makes him an attractive proposition for the gaffer.

Speaking of Erik ten Hag, he knows Gakpo well. The Dutchman went head-to-head against his PSV side on a regular basis when he was Ajax manager. He was obviously impressed with what he saw from the forward.
