Man United taking interest in striker for January deal – Club looking for €10m

With all the fuss surrounding Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo these days, there is a good chance the Portuguese star gets his contract terminated in the coming months.

We’ll have to wait and see the official outcome of the Piers Morgan interview, but it appears extremely unlikely that the forward will ever play for the club again, with Erik ten Hag reportedly far from pleased with what was said.

That means Manchester United could dip into the transfer market for a new forward, with the likes of Eric Maxim Choupo Moting recently linked.

This is because his current contract at Bayern Munich is set to expire in the summer, making him a cheap option, but recent claims have stated he is more likely to renew than leave.

That leaves Manchester United with a need to look elsewhere, although it appears they didn’t widen their net that much, as they are now looking at Marcus Thuram.

That’s according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, who throws in the Red Devils amid an article about Inter’s and Juventus’ interest in the Frenchman, who is currently with his country in Qatar for the World Cup.

It’s said talks between the San Siro side and Thuram’s entourage are ‘already well underway’, but a sale is needed before they can do anything.

Borussia Mönchengladbach are asking for around €10m, and ‘there is no shortage of opponents’, with Bayern Munich and Manchester United ‘ready to give life to a real transfer market duel’.

At €10m, Thuram would be a bargain for Manchester United, especially for a player who has scored 13 goals and assisted another four in 17 appearances so far this season.
