Man Utd: £34m Serie A star could replace Ronaldo at Old Trafford

The Red Devils are believed to be in the market for a new forward and have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old as they step up their efforts to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

What is the latest news involving Abraham?

Italian outlet Calciomercato have claimed that both United and fellow Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur are eager to bring Abraham back to English shores.

Ronaldo’s explosive tell-all interview with Piers Morgan has seemingly all but ended his second stint at United, while Tottenham are still searching for an understudy to Harry Kane.

However, signing Abraham is unlikely to come cheap as his current £93,000-per-weekcontract is not due to expire until the summer of 2026.

Roma managed to prise the England international away from his boyhood club Chelsea in a £34 million deal back in August 2021, and he enjoyed an impressive maiden campaign with the Serie A giants.

However, a drop-off in form this term saw him miss out on Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for this month’s World Cup, meaning he may be open to a move back to his homeland.

What has Jones said about Abraham?

Jones believes that Abraham should be considered by the United hierarchy as he is a ‘goalscorer’ who ‘obviously knows the Premier League well’.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Ifthere becomes a chance that he’s willing to leave Roma, then I think that he should be high on the list of names that United look at.

“He is somebody who obviously knows the Premier League well; he’s a goalscorer.”
