Man United are keeping a close watch on Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez as he continues to go from strength to strength. Argentina international joined the Eagles from River Plate earlier this year and has since played 21 matches for the Primeira Liga giants, scoring thrice and assisting four more.
It would not be an understatement to claim that Fernandez has taken to European football like a fish to water. A central midfielder who can play anywhere along the line, Enzo is a handful to go up against. Good on the ball and a terrific tackler, the Argentine has the tools at his disposal to become an all-action presence in the middle of the park.
Man United are currently rebuilding under Erik ten Hag and could do with a footballer of the Argentine midfielder’s abilities. It is no secret that Man United are in the market for a midfielder, given their summer-long pursuit of Frenkie de Jong. The 21-year-old midfielder is far from the finished product.
It is not easy for a youngster to come to a new league and take it by storm. The very act that he has been able to do so speaks volumes about his potential. The South American midfielder is also an upgrade over Fred and McTominay, who both lack the dynamism and vision to make a telling impact in the middle of the park.
