£52.6million forward could finally agree Man Utd move in January

Manchester United were heavily interested in signing Matheus Cunha in the summer transfer window but the player ended up staying at Atletico Madrid.

Unfortunately, the situation has changed this term and reports suggest that the Brazilian international is looking to leave the Rojiblancos.

Back in August, Man Utd submitted an offer worth 40 million euros to sign the Samba forward but the bid was turned down by the Colchoneros (AS).

The Wanda Metropolitano club asked for a fee (Marca) of around 60 million euros (£52.6million) i.e. close to his release clause.

As per today’s version of Marca (news image provided below), the 23-year-old forward is looking at the Premier League to revive his career.

Manchester United were really interested in signing him last summer and he could finally end up securing a move to Old Trafford in the winter transfer window.

The renowned news source have mentioned that Cunha expected to be a key player for Diego Simeone this season but so far, he has only started 2 games in the Spanish La Liga and did not even start a single game in the Champions League.

He is currently 5th in the pecking order under Simeone and due to lack of game time, the Selecao forward was not even selected in the Brazil squad for the World Cup.

Marca claim that to solve the current financial crunch, Atletico may opt to sell Cunha and could send him to the PL clubs as they have economic power and even the player would prefer to move to England.

In your opinion, should Man Utd move in January to finally sign the Brazilian?
