Man United could look to make their move for Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez in January.
When Erik ten Hag took charge of Manchester United, we supporters knew it was always going to take time.
This is a long, drawn-out process that’s going to take several transfer windows before the gaffer is even remotely happy with his squad.
Several players left over the summer. Six were signed. For anyone who has watched United this season, more quality is needed in a variety of areas.
Today’s transfer rumour comes from Portuguese media outlet Record (Wednesday print edition), with the translation via Sport Witness. They link United with a move to sign Benfica midfielder, Enzo Fernandez.
The main story is actually about Fernandez’s likely inclusion in Argentina’s Qatar World Cup squad, though United do get a mention.
Apparently, the Reds are ‘crazy’ about signing the 21-year-old in January, with the Reds named as the ‘main interested’ club in signing the player. United are ‘delighted’ with Fernandez, though they’ll face competition to acquire the emerging star.
Many sides including Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester City, so winning the race to bring Fernandez in will not be easy.
United would like to push this deal through in January, presumably to get a jumpstart on the competition ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
