Manchester United have ‘very strong interest’ in in-form Bayern star – Potential free transfer

Manchester United are ‘seriously considering’ a move for Bayern Munich striker Eric Chupo-Moting as they look for a striker for Erik ten Hag.

That’s according to Media Foot, who say the forward’s recent performances for Bayern Munich are ‘attracting interest’ in his services.

He’s scored eight goals in just 615 minutes of football this season, a goal every 76 minutes and been something of a good luck charm for Bayern, who consistently win with him on the pitch.

The German side are delighted with him and reportedly already planning a contract extension, with his current deal set to expire next summer.

He could be a free agent by next summer and Manchester United are showing a ‘very strong interest’ in him as a result.

They like his ‘profile, versatility, experience’ and the fact that his contract is set to expire next summer when they think he could be a ‘great recruit’ in that window.

United are planning a transformation of their forward line and the possible departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, which appears to be a given, and so have ticked Choupo-Moting’s name off on their list.

Whether he would be interested in a move to Manchester United and a return to the Premier League, where he had a short unsuccessful spell with Stoke, remains to be seen.

It seems unlikely given how much he is enjoying life in Bavaria, while it also seems unlikely United would be looking at him as an option as opposed to a more high-profile name.

We’ll take this report with a hefty pinch of salt for the time being because of that and suggest that perhaps United’s need for a striker is just seeing them linked with one who happens to be in very good form, and could be available on a free.
