Man United already have star player ‘reserved’ – Asked Mendes to let them know of any offers

Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa had already been linked to Manchester United and other European clubs in the past few months.

Now since his performance in the Champions League this week, the rumours about his future have only grown.

Most Portuguese newspapers today feature stories about the 23-year-old, who’s considered to be a gem in the Dragons’ hands, and as he’s linked to a move to the Red Devils, newspaper Correio da Manhã brings an interesting piece about that.

The outlet writes that Manchester United have Costa ‘reserved’, as the Old Trafford side would go for his signing in case they don’t get David De Gea to renew his contract with them.

It’s said the Portuguese goalkeeper is ‘referenced’ by many European giants since the last season, and Manchester United are one of them.

The Premier League club have been ‘analysing the market’ exactly because of the Spaniard’s situation.

The problem, however, is Costa’s price. Correio da Manhã claims that now that Porto qualified for the Champions League’s knock-out stage, the Dragons would only let him go if his €60m release clause is triggered.

What is likely to be the most interesting information in this story is that, according to the newspaper, Manchester United have asked Jorge Mendes to be let known if any other offer for the goalkeeper arrives, as the English club seem to be worried about the competition for the player.
