Long-awaited move to Man United for €60m defender could still happen

Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier reportedly remains on Manchester United’s transfer radar ahead of the January market and the Red Devils will give Ralf Rangnick the option to make him one of his first singings.

The Englishman was high up on the club’s wanted list but they were ultimately priced out of a summer move, however, with Los Rojiblancos refusing to negotiate a deal for less than the player’s €60 million release clause.

The Old Trafford side have persevered with Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the first choice right-back this campaign with Diogo Dalot providing cover but with the ex-Crystal Palace youngster enduring a difficult campaign, Kieran remains on their agenda.

AS report he is still in United’s plans but the board will turn to Rangnick who will decide whether the outfit step up their interest again in what will be one of the German’s first major transfer decisions at the Theatre of Dreams.

He has been named United’s interim boss until the end of the term and will move onto a consultancy role within United this summer.

Ralf is expected to be given funds to bolster the squad this summer with RB Leipzig’s Amadou Haidara another early target.

Rangnick brought in Haidara while he was manager of Die Roten Bullen and the Mali international is understood to have a release clause of £33 million written into his contract.
