Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo could supposedly quit the club should they miss out on UEFA Champions League football next season.

The 36-year-old living legend has chalked up nine goals from 12 matches in all competitions since returning to the Old Trafford outfit, but the Premier League giants have failed to produce the goods as a team.

A heavy defeat to Manchester City in Saturday’s PL derby leaves them sixth in the table after 11 games – five points adrift of the UCL spots and three behind fifth-placed Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The latest report claimed that Cristiano was ‘alarmed’ by the Red Devils’ decline since his arrival, and The Expressclaims that failure to qualify for the continent’s elite competition could see the Portugal icon cut his return short.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner already has five strikes to boast from four outings in the Champions League this season, with the Red Devils level on points with the La Liga side Villarreal at the top of Group F.

Ex-Real Madrid and Juventus attacker penned a two-year contract with the option of an additional one year at the Theatre of Dreams upon his summer return from I Bianconeri.
