Experienced English tactician wants to become Man Utd caretaker boss

Steve Bruce would be keen on becoming Manchester United’s new manager on an interim basis, according to his son Alex Bruce.

The club sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last weekend and revealed that they’d be looking to appoint a new head coach on an interim basis for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

Steve Bruce, who recently quit Newcastle United, has been mentioned with the position, and Alex has said that the experienced tactician would be open to the role at the Theatre of Dreams.

“Who knows? I think everyone knows he has a great relationship with the club. If they needed him, I’m sure he would be there to help,” he told Sky Sports News.

“I think they need to get a world-class, elite manager. If they can’t find someone at this present time, then I’m sure he would be up for it.

“Dad carries a lot of experience. He knows a lot about the club. One thing you can say about the people there at the moment is that they don’t carry a lot of experience.

“Whether they want someone to come in and give them a hand for the time being if they don’t make that elite appointment, we’ll just have to watch this space.”

Paris Saint-Germain leader Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly the English giants’ number one choice to replace Ole on a long-term basis.
