Former Manchester United star could return as interim manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is no longer the Manchester United manager. The Norwegian was ultimately shown the exit door following the club’s disappointing start to the season and 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford, which sees them sitting at seventh in the Premier League table. Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for the forthcoming games while the Red Devils look to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season.

That means that the club are not looking to bring in a long-term solution immediately and will wait until the summer, when more options become available.

That is an interesting approach to say the least, considering how much success some teams have had in recent seasons changing managers in the middle of the campaign. It appears that Manchester United have a former star in their sights when it comes to becoming the interim manager.

As reported by Independent, Laurent Blanc is seen as a strong candidate to become Manchester United’s interim manager, before the club make a permanent decision in the summer.

Blanc spent a couple of seasons at Manchester United during the time of Sir Alex Ferguson as manager and even won a Premier League title.

Once one of the most interesting managers in all of Europe, things have certainly slowed down a lot for him since his stint at Paris Saint-Germain came to an end. He spent some time out of management following that spell and finds himself at Qatari club Al-Rayyan at the moment.

Blanc could prove to be a solid choice to be the Manchester United interim manager. Not only does he already know what the club is about but he also has the experience of managing a top club and top players at Paris Saint-Germain, who he guided to a tremendous amount of success.
