Man United giving interested clubs discount on 28-year-old midfielder

Manchester United are now ready to sell midfielder Jesse Lingard for as little as £10 million during the January transfer market, rather than allowing his contract to expire.

The 28-year-old star returned to the Theatre of Dreams last year after a successful loan stint at West Ham United, who were desperate to sign the Englishman on a permanent basis.

However, the Old Trafford side were demanding as much as £30 million for the player – who had one year to run on his deal at the time.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had talked up the chances of Jesse signing a new contract but negotiations have not progressed in the fashion that the board had hoped, with Jesse angered at his lack of game time so far this term.

They remain determined to keep Jesse but with little sign that he is willing to pen an extension, they are resigned to selling him in the winter window and the Sun claim they’ll accept a fee of around £10 million.

That is well below their summer valuation of £30 million and sums up the chaotic nature of the Red Devils’ transfer business in the latest times.

He has made eight appearances thus far this term but the out-of-favour player’s only start came in a League Cup defeat to the Hammers.
