Man United ‘looking closely’ at signing 22-year-old left-back, ‘could look’ to make move this summer

Man United is interested in Miguel Gutierrez, the left-back for Girona.

At this point, Manchester United most likely needs a new back four. Erik ten Hag has been unable to cope and tolerate the injuries on a regular basis.

The most obvious requirement is probably a left-back. Tyrell Malacia hasn’t made a single appearance this season, and you can always count on Luke Shaw to sustain minor ailments that will end his campaign.

Therefore, there is a compelling case to be made for connections to acquire a new left-sided defender. According to Give Me Sport, who broke today’s scoop, the Old Trafford team is eager to sign Miguel Gutierrez.

GMS claims in its headline that United is “looking closely” at signing the left-back, who is 22 years old.

Though United is aware that two major opponents are also interested on a deal for Gutierrez, it appears that United is “keeping tabs” on the young Spaniard and “could look” to make a bid for the defender this summer.

The left-back is now on United’s wishlist, regardless of the manager in place come 2024–2025, after receiving “rave reviews” from the club’s recruitment department.

This summer, Gutierrez will undoubtedly need to be added to the roster, but the concern is that this team will have too much work to do in a single transfer window. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already made it clear that United would need time to rise back to the top, but bringing in a player like the Girona man and becoming younger would be a fantastic place to start.

It all comes down to selecting the right talent at the right price, even though it’s much easier said than done.
