Man Utd have ‘strong’ interest in agreeing deal for €40m star, want to swap with Lindelof

According to Inter Live, Manchester United is prepared to offer Victor Lindelof as a makeweight in exchange for Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard at the end of the current campaign.

Last summer, the Red Devils had strong interest in signing Pavard from Bayern Munich, but Financial Fair Play prevented them from affording to do so.

In an attempt to recover money, the management wanted to trade Harry Maguire, but the Englishman’s decision to stay meant the club lost out on him to the Nerazzurri.

According to Inter Live, United is still “strong” on Pavard’s profile. This summer, the team may offer the World Cup champion a player-plus-cash contract.

At his current valuation of about €40 million, United is willing to pay less for Pavard by include former Inter target Lindelof as a makeweight.

A move, meanwhile, doesn’t seem likely given that the Nerazzurri are no longer persuaded by Lindelof despite his little playing time throughout the campaign.

According to Inter Live, the deal would not include any “positive factors” for Inter. Lindelof is more likely to accept one of Saudi Arabia’s numerous summertime offers.

Man Utd is unlikely to have another opportunity to sign Pavard.

Pavard was willing to transfer to United last summer, and negotiations were carried out.

The Red Devils’ inability to recover money from player sales caused the negotiations to collapse, though. Eventually, the team gave Jonny Evans a short-term contract.

Although United appears to have rekindled their interest in Pavard, a move is unlikely to happen as the Nerazzurri are rumoured to place a high value on the defender right now.

The price is supposedly €40 million, but the Nerazzurri “may be reluctant to enter negotiations for even higher figures,” according to reports. in the summer.

The stance does not surprise us. Lindelof is around two years older than Pavard. This term, he has won more tackles and duels and is a better distributor.

Pavard is a versatile player who can play both centre back and right back. No team would want to lose a player who is so natural in both areas.

Given that Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Raphael Varane’s futures at United are unclear after this season, Pavard would be the perfect choice to take over these two important roles.

We don’t see a deal occurring, though, unless the team is willing to pay a premium for Pavard. It doesn’t appear likely that this will occur under the incoming Sir Jim Ratcliffe-led board.
