Another loss, another away game, and yet another investigation into the team’s underachievers.

The team’s overall performance against Arsenal wasn’t quite as poor as it has been lately, but a few players stood out as the weak points.

The People’s Person recently talked about Anthony Martial’s anonymous performance, but Antony is another attacker whose work is also lacking.

After facing a great deal of criticism in the first two games, the Brazilian showed some improvement against Nottingham Forest. Still, against Arsenal, it was all square again.

The Experience of Antony

Get the ball on the right, attempt to cut inside, then pass it to the fullback if that isn’t successful. If you try to play an illegal pass, you’ll lose the ball.

For the past few months, watching Antony wear a United shirt has essentially been that sensation.

Even though he has started every game this season, he has not yet scored a goal or provided an assist. Right now, his diligent tracking back is his biggest asset.

Nobody knows exactly what Antony entails. Aside from a few magical moments, he lacks the quickness to beat his guy off the dribble, is extremely one-footed, making it difficult for him to block the inside lane, and lacks the technical ability to produce in tight spaces.

Still, Erik ten Hag keeps choosing him. For someone like Anthony Martial prior to Hojlund, where the management had absolutely no other options, that would be forgiven.

On the other hand, he has one at right-wing and will soon have two.

PSellistri’s period

Ten Hag prevented Facundo Pellistri from going on loan this season because he believed he would be utilised. Last season, he played 280 minutes of football for a similar reason.

That was a wasted season, given his youth. In addition, Pellistri has fulfilled all the responsibilities expected of a model professional in his role.

Jadon Sancho, take note: he hasn’t caused any trouble. Instead, he has made an effort to maximise his limited playing time and can provide something that no one else on the club can: an old-fashioned winger who can beat players off the dribble by going outside.

Nevertheless, Antony continues to hold the top pick. Pellistri either enters the game after it has already been won or the manager is trying to score goals with every attacker on the field.

Next up is Amad.

While the Ivorian is currently recovering from an injury, he will compete with Pellistri for the right-wing position and provide something different.

Rather than forcing the problem, Amad is a player who thrives in tight spaces and creates opportunities with deft one-twos and off-the-ball runs.

Since Garnacho is proven to be such a valuable option off the bench, playing him on the right, where he can go to the byline instead of cutting inside, is a possibility that should be explored. There is already no argument against Antony’s ongoing inclusion.

In the end, there’s an unwavering sense that the right side might use an update. Regardless of form, the manager has alternatives, but he won’t use them to fire one of his reliable lieutenants.
