£175k-a-week star now wants Man Utd move, talks have already taken place

According to the Spanish publication Marca, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella is very close to signing a season-long loan agreement with Manchester United.

Since Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia will be out until November with injury, the Red Devils are now looking for a last-minute left-back.

Cucurella’s negotiations with Chelsea were officially reported to have taken place yesterday, and according to Marca, the Spaniard is’very close’ to joining United.

The £175,000 per week player, who has slid down the Chelsea hierarchy under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, “welcomes” the opportunity.

Alvaro Fernandez will be leased out to a Spanish team if United are successful in getting him. He had the option to sign with Granada, Getafe, or Las Palmas.

Cucurella to United might well be a possibility.
For Brighton & Hove Albion in his first Premier League season, Cucurella was outstanding. As a result, he received the Player of the Year award.

He has had difficulty repeating the same performance after his expensive transfer to Chelsea. When he played for the Blues previous season, the Spaniard was more defensive.

At his last club, he was prohibited from making offensive runs; however, at United, where the players are more accustomed to working together as a team, he may have more freedom.

Given that Ben Chilwell and Ian Maatsen are ahead of him on the London side’s pecking order, it is not surprising that he is tempted to join.

If he can regain his form from his time at Brighton, when he made an impression with his overlapping runs, he might temporarily claim the job at United.

The best Premier League performance Cucurella has ever had occurred against Manchester United during the 2021–2022 season, when he started on the left side of a back three.

The Spaniard scored during the resounding 4-0 victory. Last summer, we wanted him at Old Trafford, and the current injury situation may make that happen.
