The names of Vlachodimos and Bayindir are in the spotlight as Manchester United searches for a backup custodian.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils have officially submitted a five-year contract offer to Vlachodimos.

According to a well-known Sky Sports Germany journalist, the Benfica custodian has verbally agreed to join Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag has not yet made up his mind, but it would cost roughly 15 million euros to hire him away from the Eagles.

The German star, 29, was raised in Stuttgart and joined the local team when he was just 7 years old. Before joining Panathinaikos in 2016, he only made three senior appearances for the team.

Vlachodimos competed for Germany on the team that won the 2017 U-21 European Championship. However, in 2018, after playing for the Kaisers from U-15 to U-21 level, FIFA granted his request to represent Greece.

In the same year, he transferred to Benfica, where he has since won two Liga Nos championships and two Super Cup trophies with the Portuguese powerhouses.

The £57,000 per week star made 54 appearances across all competitions, allowed just 39 goals to be scored, and managed to keep no less than 28 clean sheets.

However, as a result of a deterioration in his relationship with manager Roger Schmidt, he is no longer wanted by Benfica.

If Man Utd decides to sign Vlachodimos, they will have a backup goaltender with a lot of experience. The dilemma is whether they should go with Bayindir, a considerably younger candidate, who is 25 years old.
