Benjamin Pavard is up for hire, and Manchester United and Inter Milan are vying for his services. The Red Devils have more financial clout to close the deal.

According to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (news graphic below), Bayern Munich has increased the asking price in an effort to entice the Frenchman.

The Bavarians first demanded a charge of 35 million euros, according to the Rome-based news source. They are now asking for 40 million euros (£34.2 million) in exchange for the Les Bleus defender.

According to reports, Manchester United has informed Bayern that they are willing to commit to the £34.2 million sum needed to sign Pavard.

They must first decide Harry Maguire’s future, though. The Red Devils reportedly believe they can eventually convince the England international to leave this summer, according to CdS.

Erik ten Hag said the following regarding the defender’s future:

“I don’t know the circumstances; all I know is that Harry is one of our players, and I’m glad he’s here,” said the speaker.

According to the well-known media outlet, Inter Milan is unable to match the £34.2 million that Man Utd is willing to offer, but they remain hopeful because of the lingering Maguire crisis and the closing of the transfer season.

Pavard has made it clear that he wants to leave Bayern this summer, therefore the German club is prepared to lose him.
