Before the start of the new season, Manchester United made a significant change to their goalkeeping staff. After serving United for 12 years, David De Gea left, and Andre Onana was brought in to take his place.

Along with Mason Mount, the former Inter Milan custodian joins the team, although Erik ten Hag still appears to be in the middle of a transfer spree, particularly in terms of departures.

Henderson appears to be departing Old Trafford this summer because Nottingham Forest is interested in acquiring him for about £20 million.

Having played just 29 appearances for the senior team since making his debut in 2020, he had a great loan season at Forest last year, and this may be the ideal time to leave United.

He was also once called “terrible” by reporter Chris Philpotts, and Ten Hag will be eager to remove his big salary off the payroll while replacing him with someone younger.

The Red Devils have expressed interest in Turkish custodian Altay Bayindir in light of this, and they want to try to sign him before the transfer window closes.

The five-cap Turkish international has been with his current club Fenerbahce since 2019 and has played in 143 games while recording 44 clean sheets. Last season, he won the Turkish Cup.

The custodian for the Turkish team gave up 31 goals last season, matching Henderson’s total, but he played more games (26 to 18), had a higher pass success rate in his own half (92% to 86%), gave up possession less frequently per game (8.6 to 13.7), and also kept more clean sheets (nine to six), indicating that he might be the perfect Henderson replacement should he decide to leave Manchester.

Ten Hag likes to construct attacks from the back, which will allow him to successfully transfer the ball to Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane. This could fit in well with his excellent pass success percentage in his own half.

The 6’5″ titan may not be the most thrilling addition, but with Onana as a reliable number one, Bayindir would provide the Cameroonian some additional competition throughout the entire season.

The Turkish international may see action in the cup events despite having a busy schedule largely caused by European commitments.

The player is still in his prime, so paying just £5 million to acquire him now could end up being a great deal later on.
