Ten Hag could forget about Henderson with Man United swoop for “heroic” 6 ft 2 titan

Manchester United appears prepared to make major changes to their goalkeeping staff this summer. After serving the Old Trafford team for 12 years, David de Gea left, and Inter Milan star Andre Onana has since joined.

Dean Henderson’s future appears to lie outside of Manchester United; Nottingham Forest is interested in acquiring him on a long-term basis, and this might happen once Onana is delivered. Therefore, Erik ten Hag might not have many choices between the posts the next season. He could fix this issue by bringing in Yassine Bounou.

Will Yassine Bounou be acquired by Manchester United?

According to the Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb, Ten Hag is eager to entice Bounou, better known by his stage as Bono, to the Red Devils before the upcoming season.

According to the article, a transfer would be “difficult, but not impossible,” and the Dutchman would have to work even harder to add another custodian to the team if United lost Henderson to Forest.

The behemoth, who makes £15k per week, has two years left on his contract, and Sevilla won’t want to lose him cheaply, so United would have to fork over a large sum to sign him during the transfer season.

Yassine Bounou: How talented is she?

Henderson has made a total of 29 senior games for United since graduating from the academy, with the majority of them occurring in the 2020–21 season, when he played 25 times.

Despite Bono’s talent and the fact that he has already played for England, making his debut against Ireland three years ago, Ten Hag may soon move on from Bono and forget about him.

The Moroccan international, who was born in Canada, achieved his greatest success when playing for Sevilla, where he won two Europa League championships during his four seasons in Spain. In 140 games, he has also maintained 58 clean sheets.

The fact that Bounou ranks in the top 17% of players in Europe’s top five leagues for touches per 90 (41.8) suggests that he is confident with the ball and is trusted to start attacks from the back during matches, despite not being among the very elite players on the continent. Bounou could therefore fit Ten Hag’s tactical philosophy of playing out effectively from the back.

As Morocco became the first African team to go to the World Cup semifinals in 2022, the 32-year-old became well-known throughout the continent.

He had three clean sheets and 100% completion rates in seven games during the tournament, saving his best performance for the last-sixteen match against Spain.

After the game ended in a tie, the 6 foot 2 colossus made two saves in the ensuing penalty shootout and emerged as the game’s instant hero. Romain Saiss, a fellow countryman, praised him after the game, saying:

“For him, that is incredible. Today, he played bravely throughout—not only during the penalties. He merely wanted to demonstrate why he was named the league’s top custodian the previous year. He showed against Spain that he is a fantastic custodian. He has given us a lot today.

He should be able to integrate well at United if he performs well on the international stage, and given his stellar club and national team performances, he might even help Ten Hag forget about Henderson.
