Journalists hint swap deal could suit Manchester United – Would allow club to get number one target

This summer, Manchester United may have a simple remedy for their managerial situation if Erik ten Hag returns to Ajax and Graham Potter takes his position at Old Trafford.

Journalists Mike Verweij and Valentijn Driessen, however, maintain that Ajax is still holding out hope that they may entice their former boss back from Manchester United this summer.

Despite them reaching their second consecutive FA Cup final, Ten Hag looks to be on his way out of Old Trafford. Last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final victory against Coventry City was viewed as the straw that broke the camel’s back following a challenging season.

It is thought that Ten Hag is not content at the club, and because Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are now in charge of football operations, a move may be pursued.

Since their investment and partial control at Manchester United was formalized earlier this year, they haven’t exactly rushed to fully support the Dutchman.

Ajax has been anticipating and waiting as a result of this addition to the rumors. Ten Hag, who left for Manchester United in 2022, is still well regarded by both the club and the supporters for the job he performed there. They are also searching for a new manager this summer.
They would want him back, and according to Verweij, there may be a simple fix that involves Graham Potter going back to the Premier League.

He remarked, “Once more, the evidence we have indicates that Potter is not the best player at Ajax either.

“Kroes wants to wait for Ten Hag, and Ajax wants it too. The game has similarities to a game of poker in that you have to wait patiently for your ideal candidate, but you also have to watch out that the trainer’s carousel will move and you won’t get your numbers two and three.

That is a really challenging game, then. Ten Hag is unquestionably the best.

Driessen continued, “I also heard yesterday on English radio that Potter is waiting for Manchester United.”

Potter to United and Ten Hag to Ajax would be a terrific trade. Ten Hag is simply not yet persuaded that he need to hesitate at United.

In closing, Verweij said, “I still think Potter will stay cozy in the armchair and that his preference will be for the Premier League and then you can end up with Farioli.”
