Man Utd ‘pushing’ to agree early deal to sign £75m star after identifying him as ‘top target’

According to Football Insider, Manchester United is “pushing” hard to reach an early agreement to sign Jarrad Branthwaite, a top player for Everton, this summer.

This season, the Red Devils have had trouble stopping the leak. Erik ten Hag, the Dutch manager, has maintained that Harry Maguire is the only available centre defender, and that the Red Devils’ subpar defensive performances are primarily the result of injury issues.

Therefore, it’s been widely reported that Man Utd want to upgrade their ageing defence in the next window. Recently, a number of centre backs, like Antonio Silva and Jean-Clair Todibo, have been linked to a transfer to Old Trafford; however, Branthwaite is also being considered by them.

Man Utd is aiming to revamp its defensive line, and they have named Branthwaite as their “top target,” according to a report by Football Insider.

According to the source, Man Utd are “pushing” hard to buy Branthwaite early in the forthcoming window because they believe he will be the “long-term answer” to their defensive problems.

Man Utd to Branthwaite
Everton has been found guilty of violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, and it has been speculated that they may have to cash in on some of its key players this summer in order to balance their books.

Nevertheless, rumours have claimed that the Toffees demand £75 million and won’t allow their star player to go for a low price. In order to get Branthwaite to leave Goodison Park this summer, the Red Devils will need to spend a significant quantity of money.

Following a successful loan season at PSV Eindhoven the previous campaign, Branthwaite has shown flashes of his abilities while playing for Everton in the Premier League.

The young player is powerful, agile, adept in the air, at playing out of the back, capable of making plays that break the line, effective while contributing defensively, and has good game reading skills.

So, if Man Utd decides to buy him, it may be a wise move to bolster their defence. It will be intriguing to see, though, whether the record Premier League winners can finally sign him during the next transfer window.
