‘Really awful’: Alan Pardew slams £350k-a-week Man United player after what he did in FA Cup vs Coventry

Alan Pardew has taken aim at a Manchester United player after Sunday’s FA Cup match against Coventry City was so intense.

After an incredible collapse at Wembley in the second half, Manchester United worked hard to secure their spot in this year’s FA Cup final.

After 70 minutes of play, Erik ten Hag’s team was in total control and was ready to easily defeat the Championship team.

However, with United ahead 3-0 thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, and Scott McTominay, Coventry seemed set to mount a historic comeback.

The Sky Blues had a fantastic second half and forced the game into penalties. At Wembley, Ellis Simms, Callum O’Hare, and Haji Wright forced extra time and prevented Mark Robins’ team from winning at the final second.

Victor Torp’s attempt was disqualified because the VAR determined that Wright was just slightly offside throughout the build-up.

The Red Devils prevailed on penalties, but the shootout proved to be another difficult situation.

For United, Casemiro took the lead and chose to go down the centre. Bradley Collins of Coventry quickly stopped the Brazilian’s meek attempt.

The 32-year-old’s blushes were thankfully saved as his colleagues came up with the next four penalties.

Prior to Rasmus Hojlund scoring the game-winning penalty, Andre Onana also stopped O’Hare from taking the penalty.

However, Pardew was not satisfied with Casemiro’s ability to lead during the altercation at Wembley yesterday.

“Going back to the leadership of Man United, what about Casemiro’s penalty today?” the former Newcastle United manager said on talkSPORT. It’s understandable that you’ve had a hard time when you’re looking at a player with such expertise.

Pardew continued, “Go and take the first penalty.” “That penalty was very terrible. It was just deficient.

“You just don’t see that in this United team, and Casemiro is one you’d look to and go, ‘come on, you’ve got to be a leader.’” I played against Bryan Robson, [Roy] Keane, and Paul Ince.

“Go put away your first penalty; you have to have the experience to be a leader. Put it in the corner to create a focal point. Not exactly, though. That one penalty says it all about United this season. The veteran players haven’t really given them the leadership push.

“They have a few young, bright guys that are good. Garnacho, no question about that. Hojlund is a young player, Rashford has had ups and downs, and McTominay has had a solid season. However, Fernandes, Casemiro—I’m not sure!

This season, Casemiro has not impressed at United.
The £350,000-per-week midfield player at Old Trafford has been a consistent starter for Ten Hag this season.

He hasn’t, however, been a consistent player for United, with some saying he is too sluggish for Premier League play.

Due to an injury issue at centre back, Casemiro teamed with Maguire yesterday. For the first 70 minutes, he appeared to be at ease, but same could be said of all of United’s players.

You expect more from Casemiro, given that he has won the Champions League four times.

In the penalty shootout, the Brazil international had the chance to set the tone, but he chose to go for a cheeky attempt down the middle instead.

Luckily, Casemiro’s comrades came to his aid. However, it was unexpected that a guy with his level of expertise would make such a meek attempt to start the penalty shootout.
