Man Utd injury crisis could go from bad to worse as Fabrizio Romano shares another new concern

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided a new injury update for Manchester United, as the team’s problems with fitness appear certain to get worse this year.

Man United’s injury problems

While it is undeniable that the Red Devils have underperformed in 2023–24 and that a top–four Premier League finish is extremely unlikely, Erik ten Hag’s team has occasionally used injuries as a justification for their deficiencies.

Since August of last year, United has been forced to play without a number of key players, and Lisandro Martinez’s absence is a major blow to the defence. Ten Hag’s central defence choices have been severely limited due to injuries to players such as Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans, and Raphael Varane. Additionally, the left-back duo of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have also been sidelined for extended periods of time.

Hojlund, Rasmus, Man, United
Among the players missing from the club recently was star striker Rasmus Hojlund, who only recently returned after missing time due to injury. Christian Eriksen has also been missing in midfield. And that’s not even talking about the players who are always missing, like Antony Martial, whose injury concerns have been a big problem for several years.

Many United players left to represent their country over the international break, but now another fitness issue has surfaced.

Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Man Utd’s injuries.

Harry Maguire will have a scan on the injury that has caused him to miss England’s international duty, according to Romano, who wrote on X on Monday. While it is hoped the problem is not serious, this presents Ten Hag with yet another worry.

Harry Maguire has left the England national team’s training camp in order to undergo a scan after perhaps hurting himself against Brazil. Man United defender’s injury was first thought to be not serious, but a scan will provide further information. He is not expected to miss much time.”

Harry, Maguire, Gomez, and Joe
For United, who must feel cursed in the injury area this season since they barely ever seem to go through a stretch without someone else picking up a new issue, this is just one more worry.

Although Maguire has received a lot of criticism over the years for his Red Devils performances, he has recently performed well, winning five of six aerial duels in Liverpool’s thrilling 4-3 FA Cup quarterfinal victory, according to Sofascore. Ten Hag, meanwhile, praised his work following United’s Premier League victory over Fullham on the road earlier in the season, going 1-0.

“[Maguire] was engaged in an extremely large-scale game. An excellent performance. Harry gave a very solid performance both in and out of possession, and he demonstrated leadership.”
