After having private discussions with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, midfielder Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United has lately spoken out regarding his future at Old Trafford and reiterated his wish to stay with the team.
The Portuguese international has led the Red Devils as captain since joining the team and is without a doubt one of their best players. His leadership qualities in the locker room as well as his skill on the football would be severely compromised if he were to leave the Manchester team.
Although it has never appeared likely that Fernandes will leave Old Trafford, United supporters will be hopeful that the former Sporting CP midfielder will pledge his future to the team in light of the significant changes taking place behind the scenes.
Bruno Fernandes Discusses the Future.
INEOS and Portuguese international discuss
The Manchester team is probably going in a different path under INEOS, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25% investment in the Red Devils was revealed earlier this year. Ratcliffe and his group will surely want to completely overhaul United because the team hasn’t produced the kind of success we’ve been used to seeing from them in previous years.
After having private discussions with INEOS, Fernandes, who makes £240k a week at Old Trafford, recently went out regarding his future while playing for Portugal internationally. He confirmed that he wants to stay.
“I’ve already met with the new proprietors. I sent exactly the same message—that they wish to meet with the players and have already done so on an individual basis. I want to stay here and work on a product that has all the necessary limbs—feet, legs, torso, and head—to compete with the teams who have been playing the best—Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool.”
Given that Fernandes’ current contract expires in 2026, United may try to sign him to a long-term agreement at some point in the future, particularly in light of his stated desire to stay with the Manchester team. Although a new contract would probably discourage any bids at all, his dedication to the Red Devils puts United in a good negotiating position should an interested party show up at the table with an offer.

Man Utd May Talk About Fernandes’s New Deal
Saudi teams have expressed interest.
Football Insider claims that while INEOS may try to talk to Fernandes about signing a new deal, they are not expected to give him a huge salary increase. According to the source, United has the option to give the Portuguese international an additional year on his contract, and Al-Hilal, a club in Saudi Arabia, is reportedly one of the teams mulling a bid for him.
If they can bring Erik ten Hag to heel, that would be a major declaration of intent from INEOS and a significant boost to his guys.
