After Manchester United winger Amad Diallo’s thrilling late victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinal, Arsenal legend Ian Wright showered the Manchester United player with adulation.

Due to a knee ailment, the Ivorian hasn’t played much for the team this season, but he left his imprint in the quarterfinal on Sunday with an incredible cameo.

Diallo replaced Raphael Varane in the 85th minute. He was energetic right away and ultimately proved to be the difference-maker in extra time with a last-second victory.

In the last seconds, Alejandro Garnacho masterminded a fantastic counterattack before setting up Diallo for a low shot that found the bottom right corner.

Even though Diallo—who had already been booked in the 116th minute—was sent off for celebrating by removing his shirt—he will never forget this event in his life.

Wright was thrilled with Diallo’s goal after the game. He told ITV (via BBC Sport) that although the shot was not clean, it was ideal for hitting the mark.

“It was evident that Amad had taken everything from it. Although it’s not a flawless hit, it’s excellent. The worst thing you could do is miss the target; it’s right on target.

Aside from his spectacular victory, the youthful player won 100% of his tackles (3/3) and completed 100% of his passes (10/10) with 19 touches.

In addition, Diallo made four ball recoveries and won four ground duels. For a guy who has been on the fringes, this youngster put up an incredible all-around performance.

The 21-year-old won’t be available for the upcoming match against Brentford, but he will be hoping to build on the performance during the international break.

Red cards are not competition-specific, so Diallo will be punished for the team’s upcoming league match on the road against the Bees on March 30.
