Casemiro identifies one Man Utd star who is ‘very important’ for team, says ‘all clubs need’ a player like him

In a huge compliment, Casemiro stated that an underappreciated Manchester United teammate is “very important” and the kind of player that “all clubs need.”

Due to injuries and poor play, the 32-year-old Manchester United midfielder has seen his impact at Old Trafford decline this Premier League season.

After suffering a hamstring injury in the Red Devils’ 3-0 Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle in November of last year, Casemiro resumed training in January.

Despite receiving accolades for his first season at Old Trafford, the former Real Madrid player has only managed to make 15 Premier League games so far this season.

Even though Casemiro wasn’t very reliable for the Red Devils in the 2023–24 campaign, he has continued to be an important player for United manager Erik ten Hag.

The Brazilian midfielder’s impact on Erik ten Hag’s United first squad has been praised, particularly for helping young Kobbie Mainoo flourish.

While praising Kobbie Mainoo himself, Casemiro has drawn attention to another United player who “always wants more” and “rallies the team.”

Speaking to Inside United (through the official Manchester United website), Casemiro commended Scott McTominay for his offensive “threat” and “strength.”

Even though Scott McTominay has scored a lot of goals for Erik ten Hag’s team this season, he has grown to be a contentious figure among United supporters.

In 25 Premier League games, the 27-year-old Scottish midfielder has scored seven goals, including an incredible injury-time brace against Brentford in October of last year.

McTominay has had to compete for a spot in the starting lineup, though, as United manager Ten Hag favours a combination of Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo.

Now that McTominay has been honoured, Casemiro has boldly stated that he is the kind of player that every club should have in their starting lineups.

“Scott McTominay is a valuable goal threat who possesses strength and agility in the box,” the player remarked.

“I think Scott is the kind of player all clubs need; he always wants more and rallies the team,” Casemiro continued.

“You want players who train hard and improve the squad. Players with the calibre of Scott are crucial.

Casemiro discusses Mainoo’s growth

In addition, Casemiro praised Mainoo, his midfield partner, and expressed his belief that the United star will remain a top player at Old Trafford for more than ten years.

Under Ten Hag, Mainoo has had a breakout season at United, and it is anticipated that the 18-year-old midfielder will have a successful football career.

Casemiro has issued a warning, stating that Mainoo, the standout player for United, must be subjected to “too much pressure” and that crucial phases of his development must not be missed.

He said Inside United, “I think it’s really important that we don’t put too much pressure on an 18-year-old player.”

“Allow things to unfold organically. We must proceed with Kobbie step-by-step; we cannot skip any steps.
