Ratcliffe means business: Manchester United ready to “go all out” to sign “talented” £60m player

In an attempt to acquire a defensive target for the Premier League this summer, Manchester United may “go all out” and seem prepared to challenge Real Madrid for his services.

Man United’s centre backs

This summer, Erik ten Hag’s team might benefit from a defensive makeover. This season, Jonny Evans, who was only selected as a backup last summer, has established himself as a starting mainstay for United’s defence. This summer, his contract expires, and Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and Harry Maguire are all under investigation.

In light of this, United might have to make significant investments in the middle of defence to identify Lisandro Martinez’s backup as well as possible replacements for their departing players.

United Targets a £60 million young talent

In an attempt to strengthen their defence in advance of the upcoming campaign, Manchester United is reportedly considering a rivalry with Real Madrid for the adolescent sensation Leny Yoro. If a deal can be reached this summer, they are prepared to pay up to £60 million.

According to a Spanish report, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Red Devils are in the running and won’t hesitate to “go all out” to sign him before the new season, even if it means paying his exorbitant €70 million (£60 million) asking price.

The 18-year-old defender made his debut for Lille during the previous campaign. He has since established himself as a starter for the French team and drawn interest from all over Europe.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig has called Yoro “one of the most talented young center-backs in world football” with “world-class potential,” which should thrill Manchester United supporters.

Teammate Remy Cabella, who also thrived in France before moving to England, has drawn comparisons between the sensation and William Saliba, the defender for Arsenal.

“At Marseille, I knew Boubacar Kamara, at Saint-Etienne, William Saliba and Wesley Fofana, and now there’s Leny Yoro,” Cabella said. “He’s got all it takes to be a big success. His humility is another one of his strong points.

Real Madrid was believed to be in the lead in the race to sign Yoro, but according to recent sources, the team is also attempting to recruit Kylian Mbappe and Alphonso Davies, so Los Blancos are not expected to engage in a bidding war this summer.

Yoro’s contract expires in the summer of 2020, so if he’s still available, Carlo Ancelotti’s team might try to sign him for nothing in the following 12 months. But United might be attempting to make sure he won’t be.
