Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna is a striker who Manchester United is very interested in signing this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport (page 22).

With Anthony Martial’s contract about to expire at the end of June, it is likely that the Red Devils will look to acquire a new center-forward.

Although Zirkzee’s services have been linked to United, Corriere dello Sport reports that the club is very interested in signing him.

Two years ago, Bologna paid €8.5 million to Bayern Munich for the Dutchman. Bayern has the option to resign him for €40 million as part of the agreement.

In the meanwhile, should Zirkzee decide to leave for another team this summer, the German champions will be entitled to 35% of any transfer fees that are made.

In light of this, rumours have it that the Red Devils would need to have direct talks with Bologna.

With 29 games this season, Zirkzee has 11 goals and 6 assists. The Serie A team is free to haggle over a potential transfer fee.

Zirkzee to Man Utd rumours can be motivated by agents

With Martial’s departure from United expected, the team will probably spend this summer on a new striker.

When healthy and ready to play, Rasmus Hojlund would be the Red Devils’ first choice striker, so they might not spend a lot of money.

After a sluggish start to the Premier League, Hojlund has scored seven goals in his last six games in the top division in England.

With 13 goals so far this season, the Dane has the capacity to score 25–30 goals each game.

Therefore, we don’t envision a significant investment in a new shooter. Serhou Guirassy, a standout for Stuttgart, would be a superior addition for about €17.5 million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Guinean came very close to joining United in January. Financial Fair Play concerns prevented a deal from going forward.

We believe that the Zirkzee speculation may be agent-driven. United is being utilised to entice attention from other parties during negotiations.

Recent rumours have also stated that the €60 million striker would rather stay in Serie A with AC Milan rather than attempt to adjust to a new league.
