One analyst has criticised the player who hasn’t impressed him as Manchester United battles to be in the running for Champions League football.
Man United has trouble staying consistent.
Man United’s Premier League winning streak of four games came to an end last weekend as the Red Devils lost 2-1 against Fulham at home.

After that outcome, United is now in sixth place, eleven points behind Aston Villa in fourth. The Manchester team, who embarrassingly crashed out of Europe this season, will be itching to return and do better the next year. Erik ten Hag now has the responsibility of getting the best performance out of his players with crucial games in United’s bid for Europe approaching.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s entrance as a minority owner expected to bring about significant changes at Old Trafford, a significant overhaul is probably in store for this summer. Following the team’s defeat last week, a pundit brought attention to a player who has been struggling lately and isn’t performing up to the standards set by his predecessors.
Pundit calls Man United star “embarrassing”
Former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie stated to Football Insider after the loss at Old Trafford that Bruno Fernandes, the captain of United, “[does] not want to work for the club or play for the manager.”
United Manchester, Bruno Fernandes
After joining United from Sporting in January 2020, Fernandes has developed into a divisive character at Old Trafford due to his penchant for oscillating between adult outbursts and excellent performances. Ever since assuming the captaincy in September 2022, the 29-year-old has symbolised United’s hardships.
After the match, McAvennie became enraged at Fernandes for wearing the armband against Fulham, and the pundit said the following about him:
Bruno Fernandes, the captain, is a poor representation of a captain.
It’s humiliating for the Man United captain to punch the ground and argue with officials and everyone else.
“You can’t picture Roy Keane acting in that way, but Fernandes, what are you doing?

When Fernandes realised his shot was not going in, he threw himself to the ground and shot again towards goal in the scenario McAvennie mentions. The United captain puts on quite the show as he tries to draw a foul, but eventually realises that no one is watching and gets back up.
It’s unclear if Erik ten Hag would support his skipper going forward given that the Old Trafford supporters have justifiably chastised him for his behaviour. Ratcliffe’s arrival has given United an opportunity for change, and maybe the new owner will consider giving someone else an opportunity to wear the armband.
