“This is the news” – Fabrizio Romano shares big Man Utd update he’s hearing on official podcast

Posted by

Under the partial ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, Manchester United may be in for a busy summer transfer window. Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the positions they’re likely to target, which likely includes a new left-back.

This season, Erik ten Hag has had to cope with a slew of injuries, particularly to his defence. With Tyrell Malacia, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Luke Shaw out with injuries, the Dutch tactician is currently lacking options at full back.

During the campaign, ten Hag has occasionally used Victor Lindelof in an unfamiliar left-back role since he needs a player who can play on both sides, such as Diogo Dalot. Consequently, the Red Devils might need to add more players to that position.

There will be a left-back targeted.

Shaw may be out for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep him out of play for about 12 weeks, per The Athletic. Malacia hasn’t played much for Manchester United this season, so the Red Devils don’t have many choices at left defence.

Romano has now revealed that United will think about adding players to the left side of defence during the summer transfer window when speaking on the Here We Go Podcast.

“This is the news, however there are some names on the list. During the summer transfer window, Manchester United hopes to add a new left-back to their roster. Since we are aware of the striker, this will take precedence. We are aware of the centre back; they have been talking about it since September of last year.”

Since Shaw moved to Old Trafford from Southampton, injuries have been a major problem for him, so it’s not surprising that United will look into adding a new left-back. The England international is a vital member of the Red Devils when he plays well, but ten Hag will prefer a player who can play more regularly.

La Liga standout is on Manchester United’s roster.

Erik ten Hag is trying to find someone to replace Shaw.

Left-back Miguel Gutierrez is reportedly drawing interest from Manchester United, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund after a run of strong performances for La Liga team Girona. In the January transfer window, the 22-year-old, who left Real Madrid for Girona, was reportedly under intense observation by the Red Devils.

It remains to be seen if the Manchester team will still be interested in Gutierrez as the summer approaches, but he might be a wise choice to provide Shaw some competition and cover.
