Decision made: £250,000-a-week Man United player will leave Old Trafford; he may not play again

According to a recent transfer update, a Manchester United player who is now paid £250,000 per week appears likely to leave the team this summer.

News of Man Utd’s transfer

Erik ten Hag’s team’s ambitions of finishing in the top four of the Premier League were severely damaged after they lost to Fulham 2-1 at home on Saturday.

It served as a reminder that, despite their recent upswing in performance, United still needs to recruit a lot of new players this summer, since the team is still being linked to several acquisitions.

Striker Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP, who previously excelled in England with Coventry City, is expected to join Old Trafford at the end of the current campaign.

It has also been suggested that the team make a move for Vinicius Junior, a star for Real Madrid, in what could be one of their most exciting acquisitions in years. Although it is unclear if he would leave the Santiago Bernabeu, Kylian Mbappe’s transfer from Paris Saint-Germain may have an impact on his position at the team.

However, there will also be dead wood that United is eager to get rid of in the summer, and a significant development has emerged over the future of a player who may fit into that category.

Anthony Martial will depart Man United

Football Insider reports that Manchester United has opted not to sign Anthony Martial after this summer because they do not see a place for him there. They also believe that Martial may have played his final game for the team due to an injury that has kept him out of action.

“Sources have told Football Insider that Man United will permit Anthony Martial to depart at the end of the current campaign, when his contract expires, and he may have already played his final game for the team. It is thought that the board chose not to activate the one-year contract extension for the Frenchman, allowing him to leave for free.

“Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Red Devils are eager to significantly reduce their hefty wage bill – a major influence on their decision regarding Martial.”

Martial’s tenure as a United player must come to an end this summer. The £250,000-per-week attacker is prone to injuries and hasn’t contributed enough to the team in a while. He has only made five Premier League starts this season, and although his lack of health isn’t his fault, it doesn’t make sense to have a high-paid player on the team who is rarely available.

Martial’s current contract expires at the end of the season, and at 28, he is not getting any younger, so there is no need to give him an extension.

Rather, relieving himself of his salary will free up money for new players, and the plan is for United to recruit a younger, more affordable player like Gyokeres, who has contributed eight assists and 16 goals in the Primeira Liga so far this season.
