Sky Sports: “Sensational” manager is eyeing up Manchester United job to replace Ten Hag

Posted by

Newcastle United has put Dan Ashworth on gardening leave as Manchester United works to make him their sports director. It’s already thought that Ashworth has communicated his wish to leave Newcastle and accepted terms with the Red Devils.

But before they let him leave, the Magpies could seek more than £20 million in compensation—a sum that Jim Ratcliffe and company have so far considered exorbitant. Talks may therefore go on for a long time.

The star, who makes £165k a year more than Hojlund, is tearing apart Manchester United.
The United player is expected to go in the summer.
In the event that United chooses Ashworth, manager Erik ten Hag’s future may become even more dubious. According to rumours, he and Ratcliffe don’t think the Dutchman is a good “long-term” fit for the team, which puts his job “under threat” going into the upcoming campaign.

Despite having a five-game winning streak in all competitions, the 13-time Premier League winners are still five points short of securing a winners League qualifying berth, having already qualified out of this year’s competition in the group stages.

Galatasaray Premier League sacha-boey
The availability of former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season may thus be noteworthy. Despite having only assumed leadership in March, Tuchel is set to depart Bayern Munich this summer, as was reported earlier this week.

The German defeated former team Borussia Dortmund to win the championship the previous year, but after losing to Xabi Alonso’s team lately, they are currently eight points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen this season. They were eliminated from the DFB-Pokal by third-tier Saarbrucken, and they face elimination from the Champions League following a 1-0 first-leg loss to Lazio.

Tuchel finds the Man Utd role appealing.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany reports that Tuchel is “definitely taking a look” at being the new manager of Manchester United. He can “imagine” leading the team “someday” and feels he has unfinished work in the Premier League.

Additionally, he considers it “interesting” to assume leadership at Barcelona before to Xavi’s already-announced departure. Notably, he is “on the list” of applicants for the Nou Camp post.

Tuchel’s inconsistent history
After seeing Tuchel defeat Chelsea in the Champions League just a few months after replacing Frank Lampard in the middle of the 2020–21 season, many United supporters would hold him in high regard. Dubbed “sensational” by one of his players, Emerson, he went on to guide the Blues to third position and two cup finals in 21/22, losing 5-4 to Real Madrid in the quarterfinals to lose his European title. But he would be fired six games into the 2022–2023 season, making it one of the fastest firings in the history of the league.

After a falling out with sports director Leonardo, he had already lost his job at PSG despite leading them to a Champions League final and won two league crowns. Similar events occurred in Dortmund, where despite winning the German Cup, he had a tense relationship with CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

You may contend that only Bayern was right to fire Tuchel due to his actions on the pitch, but it could also be problematic given his history of upsetting important figures in a club’s administration.
