“Every time I watch him” – Ian Wright can’t believe how good “fabulous” Man Utd ace was v Luton

During Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Luton Town, Ian Wright was quite impressed with one player, stating he catches his eye “every time” he watches him.

United wins at Luton

The Red Devils gained further optimism for a top-four Premier League finish this season after Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to Wolves at home on Saturday afternoon.

But they would have to travel to Luton on Sunday afternoon, knowing that the Hatters had only lost to Arsenal in stoppage time and drew with Liverpool at home earlier in the season.

Hojlund-Man-Unified Rasmus
Rasmus Hojlunds continued his amazing form in the first minute, around the custodian and finishing well to give United a great start. Then, just as the visitors looked set to explode, the Dane quickly doubled his team’s lead with a deft chested effort.

But Luton persisted, as is usually the case with them, and Carlton Morris cut the deficit before halftime, with both teams creating opportunities thereafter.

Nevertheless, United managed to hold on, much to the delight of the departing supporters at Kenilworth Road, as Erik ten Hag’s team continues to have success in the league.

Astonished by Kobbie Mainoo, Ian Wright

Wright couldn’t contain his respect for Mainoo during the game, as she put up another mature performance under trying circumstances.

Manchester United’s mainoo, Liverpool Varane
“Kobbie Mainoo must be included in the upcoming England team. We haven’t seen an England player act with such maturity in such chaotic circumstances in a long time. Every time I see him, I’m impressed.”

Wright suggests that Mainoo has been a revelation this season; despite joining the team as a teenager, he has played with an amazing level of maturity. In the middle of the park, he appears to be an experienced professional who not only possesses style when in possession but also excels defensively.

Despite facing a physically strong Hatters team, the United star completed 88% of his passes against Luton, according to Sofascore. He also won five ground duels, made one interception, and was unfortunate to receive a yellow card for a brilliant tackle.

Based on this evidence, Mainoo ought to be fighting hard to earn a spot in England’s Euro 2024 roster, and manager Gareth Southgate seems to think highly of him, as evidenced by his recent comments:

“He is doing incredibly well. It’s uncertain to me whether he will mostly play as a defensive midfielder. He’s a really progressive player, but his career has gotten off to a great start, so it will be helpful to keep an eye on him going forward.”

After obvious starters Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham, the Three Lions aren’t exactly spoiled for choice in midfield; Jordan Henderson is now past his prime, and Kalvin Phillips has struggled while on loan at West Ham; therefore, if Mainoo keeps up his current form, he should be selected.

Premier League antony Manchester United
Whatever the future holds for England, it is obvious that United have discovered a real gem in a player who has the potential to play a significant role at Old Trafford for many years to come.
