£103m Manchester United target drops transfer bombshell, hinting at becoming first Red Devils summer signing

One player who has indicated that he may be moving has caught Manchester United’s attention and might be a big summer addition.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe leading the Red Devils, things are starting to click ahead of the inaugural summer. Omar Berrada has joined from rival Manchester City, and Dan Ashworth, a master transfer from Newcastle United, is expected to follow.

In addition, a nine-figure shift might be in the works given the anticipated rise in transfer payments this summer.

Sir James Ratcliffe, United States

At Old Trafford, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has arrived.
Superstar midfielder Joao Neves of Benfica, speaking to Sport TV in his home country of Portugal, stated that finishing the season strong is his top aim. He also said, “Then you never know, I can’t promise anything,” in reference to a possible summer transfer.

Neves’ club released an astounding statement last month to refute rumours that he was leaving the Primeira Liga, despite the player being continuously linked to a move to the 20-time English champions. But now that interest has been generated, Neves’ most recent remarks offer the strongest hint yet that he would relocate this summer.

With a £103 million release clause, the young talent is comparable to Enzo Fernandez, who is headed to Chelsea. Fernandez left River Plate in the summer of 2022 and made a dramatic transfer to west London following Argentina’s spectacular World Cup campaign in Qatar.

Major Premier League teams are pursuing Joao Neves.
Neves, as we said, “is physical, carries the ball with purpose, and he’s able to affect all phases of play. His line-breaking passes and ability to ghost past players is impressive, too.” Neves was listed as one of FourFourTwo’s 50 most intriguing adolescents to watch this season.
