There has been a noticeable eagerness to improve Manchester United’s organisational structure ever since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos took over.
Before the end of the season, a number of new faces will be arriving at Old Trafford, including the recent appointment of Omar Berrada as chief executive.
Dan Ashworth, who is apparently eager to become the Red Devils’ sporting director, is one of those being watched.
Dan Ashworth, United at Newcastle
Now that we have manipulated the transfer window at both Brighton and Hove Albion and his current club, Newcastle United, let’s look at what Ashworth’s ideal Man United starting XI may be if he were to sign with the team.
Andre Onana, 1 GK
Andre Onana, United Kingdom
The Cameroonian star is expected to be the Red Devils’ long-term custodian even though he only joined the team in the summer.
In the Premier League this season, Andre Onana has now maintained seven clean sheets while stopping an amazing 3.47 goals.
Diogo Dalot, 2 RB
Dalot, Garcia-Man, United, Bayern, Ten, Hag
Diogo Dalot has started 21 league games this season as the starting right back.
With a brilliant cross, the Portuguese defender set up Scott McTominay’s game-winning goal earlier in the week.
Jean-Clair Todibo, 3 CB
Danny Bosco Spurs Premier League Nice Levy
The first new face on the side is Jean-Clair Todibo, and given Ratcliffe’s ties to Nice, a summer transfer could happen.
The French defender has been connected to Erik ten Hag’s team for the entire previous month, with the right center-back position being a top priority.
With just 17 starts this season, the 24-year-old has been a rock at the centre of Nice’s defence, helping his team record ten clean sheets.
Lisandro Martinez, 4 CB
Man Utd MartÃnez Bremer to Premier League
The Argentine’s injury-plagued 10 months had seen him miss thirty-four games.
In addition, the World Cup winner had an injury against West Ham United not so long ago that will sideline him for more than a month. Still, Ashworth’s ideal XI would undoubtedly include the number six.
Luke Shaw, 5 LB
Jadon Sancho, Manchester United, and Luke Shaw
Another player who has been injured this season is Luke Shaw, who plays left-back when healthy.
The England international has made 5.1 ball recoveries and 1.2 crucial passes per game so far this season.
6 DM – Mainoo Kobbie
Premier League kobbie-mainoo-man-utd
Despite just being 18 years old, Kobbie Mainoo has grown into one of United’s most vital players, as seen by his January Player of the Month title.
The academy graduate has also improved his goal total recently, scoring an FA Cup goal against Newport County and a magnificent winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Ashworth would want to base his team around this man, who has started each of the last ten games.
7 DM – Amadou Onana
Amadou Onana, Premier League of Everton
Another player who would have been an ideal summer signing for United is 22-year-old Amadou Onana, who is full of potential.
The Everton midfielder was allegedly a target for the Red Devils at the end of the previous campaign, and they may pick him back up at the end of this one.
This season, the Belgian star has participated in 18 league games, averaging 2.5 tackles and 6.2 balls recovered per game, respectively.
Alejandro Garnacho (8 RW)
United States Alejandro Garnacho Man
Due to Antony’s lacklustre performances—he hasn’t scored or assisted in the league this season—the right-wing position on the United team has likely generated the most conversation.
Fortunately, Alejandro Garnacho has flourished on the right side ever since he scored two goals on Boxing Day against Aston Villa.
With 16 league starts under his belt and five goals and two assists, the 19-year-old Argentine is another player around whom United needs to construct their team.
Bruno Fernandes, 9 A.M.
Florian, Bruno, Matty, and Cash
The Portuguese wonderman for Man United will undoubtedly start in his typical attacking midfield position.
The current United captain has scored 132 goals since joining the team in 2020 and has only missed one game due to illness.
He generated the most opportunities in the Premier League last season with seventy, and he will work his magic in the Red Devils starting lineup for many years to come.
10 LW – Mitoma Kaoru
Brighton-Mitoma
Ashworth rose to prominence mostly at Brighton, where he has an amazing record of acquiring exceptional players for low salaries.
The key standouts are Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, and, of course, Kaoru Mitoma. In 2021, he might try to reconcile with the Japanese jewel he once assisted in signing for less than £3 million.
He has now developed into one of England’s most sought-after wingers, with CIES Football Observatory estimating his value to be £68 million.
With the possible arrival of Ashworth, United, one of the few teams thought to be interested in signing Mitoma, may have the advantage.
Dan Ashley Man United Premier League
Ten Hag’s squad would benefit from the 26-year-old’s direct dribble, which Tony Cascarino, a former Chelsea player, said is “like watching Ryan Giggs at his very best.”
With just five goals in all competitions this season, Marcus Rashford isn’t having the best of seasons and will be replaced in the starting lineup by the Seagulls star.
Due to this and his extracurricular activities, rumours circulated that Paris Saint-Germain was considering recruiting the Englishman to replace Kylian Mbappe in the summer should their star decide to join Real Madrid.
Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund Marcus Rasford Opinion
It is very doubtful that the number ten will go, but if he did, Mitoma would be United’s left winger for the upcoming campaign.
Rasmus Hojlund, 11 ST
Hojlund-Man-Unified Rasmus
Although Rasmus Hojlund was United’s high-profile acquisition from the previous summer, all of the conversation in January concerned possible successors for the 21-year-old.
But ever since he defeated Aston Villa on Boxing Day to score his first Premier League goal, the Dane’s confidence has skyrocketed. He just can’t stop scoring.
The former star player for Atalanta has scored in each of his last five games, including his last five Premier League contests. Finally, he has received two assists during this journey.
Already a fan favourite, the number 11 will undoubtedly start at the top of Ashworth’s ideal starting lineup when the new season begins.
The dream of Ashworth Complete Man United starting lineup: GK – Onana; RB – Dalot; CB – Todibo; CB – Martinez; LB – Shaw; DM – Mainoo; DM – Amadou Onana; RW – Garnacho; AM – Fernandes; LW – Mitoma; ST – Hojlund.
