Manchester United is thought to be the front-runner to capture Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries during the summer transfer window, according to Italian publication Calciomercato.
With Aaron Wan-Bissaka approaching the final year of his contract, the Red Devils may decide to spend in a new right-back at the end of the current campaign. The club may decide to sell him for a fair price if he refuses to accept terms for a renewal.
This would mean spending money on a new addition, as Calciomercato claims Man United is leading the race to sign Dumfries, who is currently involved in a contract dispute with Inter.
The Dutchman’s salary at the Serie A powerhouse is £2.1 million a year. It’s reported that he has some serious demands for the club. His contract expires in June of next year, thus it is expected that this will result in his departure.
Well done, signing.
Dumfries began his career as a right-back but has also filled the position of right wing-back for Inter. He has been at his best because of this, and he has contributed some helpful goals.
Despite being in and out of the starting lineup during the current campaign, he has two goals and four assists to his name. If he relocates to Old Trafford, he might become the starting right-back.
Although Diogo Dalot has performed admirably in the role, he lacks Dumfries’ attacking skills. The Dutchman enjoys making frequent overlapping runs and is a strong defender.
Despite his age of 27, he might have the same effect at Newcastle United as Kieran Trippier. With one goal and eleven assists so far this season, the 33-year-old has been an incredible asset for the Magpies.
Dumfries would be a nice addition for the upcoming seasons given he is considerably younger than the Englishman. It is possible that United will need to spend approximately £43 million to acquire the talented player from Inter.
