Calciomercato reports that Manchester United is one of the teams watching Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich.

Due to form and fitness, the centre back has only made eight league starts this season. Last weekend, in his team’s loss to Bayer Leverkusen, he was benched.

According to reports, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in particular are keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old’s circumstances.

The defender, who was previously handled by Erik ten Hag at Ajax, may take Raphaël Varane’s spot at Old Trafford. In contrast, PSG is considering the Netherlands international because of Presnel Kimpembe’s medical issues.

The Bundesliga winners are keeping a watch on other defenders, such as AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori, due to the uncertainty surrounding De Ligt’s future.
According to Tutto Juve, Manchester United and Arsenal are interested in hiring the Bayern player.

The Red Devils are reportedly “leading the race” to sign De Ligt, who is valued at €50 million, despite the Gunners’ interest.

Additionally, “negotiations are ongoing” between Ten Hag’s representatives and side are mentioned in the report.

Christoph Freund, the sporting director of Bayern, is aware that De Ligt isn’t happy with his current circumstances elsewhere.

He was obviously disappointed, but we are still glad to have him here. There is fierce competition for us. According to Kicker journalist Georg Holzner, “Matthijs knows that, he handles it professionally, is a top professional,” he stated.
