Key Man United star ‘in pain’, player ‘will be evaluated’ by national team staff

Despite rumours to the contrary, Lisandro Martinez might be hurt and experiencing some pain.

The Manchester United Football Club is now having difficulties in a number of areas. Despite not appearing particularly strong most of the time, the Red Devils have won two of their last four games. In addition to dealing with the turmoil surrounding Jadon Sancho, they also have massive injuries throughout the pitch.

Against Arsenal this past weekend, such problems with the treatment table persisted. Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez would both pass away from illness and injury, respectively, for Erik ten Hag.

Early signs suggested Licha’s issue wasn’t as serious as initially thought, and he wouldn’t need to worry about anything before leaving for his international duty in Argentina. That might not be the case, though.

The most recent information on Martinez’s fitness comes from TyC Sports (via Sport Witness). They claim that the centre back’s availability to play for his nation throughout the next week or two is far from certain.

Rather, it states that the important United player is “in pain,” with the impact being felt on his right foot, which is the same injury he sustained during the previous campaign.

The athlete “will be evaluated” by members of the national team prior to a diagnosis being made, although there hasn’t been an official report from the physicians as of yet.

Argentina has called up a backup centre back in case Martinez isn’t ready to play.

The decision

Abruptly, my concerns resurface. While Raphael Varane is already out of commission for United, it’s unclear how serious Lindelof’s injury is. That might actually imply that Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans would start at centre back for the Reds against Brighton. Against a superb Brighton attack, this might be a serious problem.
