Due to their tough start to the season, Manchester United may be able to replace Harry Maguire with another Englishman.
A £50 million England player who potentially replace Harry Maguire is being considered by Manchester United.
The Red Devils have won one and lost one of their opening two Premier League games, but manager Erik ten Hag has found the performances to be difficult. As Ten Hag seeks to get his new additions to work well together straight immediately, many have criticised the team’s lack of direction.
Given that the transfer window will close in less than a month, there might still be new additions, but in the case of defence, it seems that a new signing will rely on whether or not former club captain Harry Maguire leaves.
The England international was replaced in the matchday squad that lost to Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 on Sunday by the two goalkeepers who were sitting on Ten Hag’s bench.
Ten Hag allegedly stated last week that he was “happy” to see Maguire’s trade to West Ham United fail. The belief that United wants to sell him persists, though.
According to Italian trade guru Fabrizio Romano, who spoke to GIVEMESPORT, Marc Guehi is one player in which Manchester United have interest. At center-back, the English defender might take Harry Maguire’s job.
Although United has prior experience in this role, Crystal Palace’s £50 million estimate of the 23-year-old has not been matched. As they did last summer when they brought in Casemiro to stabilise the midfield after losing their first two games of the season, it’s possible that they would spend what many deemed to be extravagant sums in the long run to replace Raphael Varane with a young, homegrown defender.
Goalkeeper Jonny Evans trains with United as well.
