Development: Man United agree personal terms over move to sign “complete” £116,000-a-week player

Benjamin Pavard, a target for Manchester United, has reached an agreement at Old Trafford, and an update has shared the sum required to bring the defender from Bayern Munich to Old Trafford.

Do Man United intend to hire Benjamin Pavard?

With the acquisitions of Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Mason Mount, the Red Devils have already had a busy summer. Erik ten Hag’s team still has time to grow, and moves to add players to the midfield and defence appear to be on the table.

Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester, while Amadou Onana of Everton has supposedly just been approached. It was expected that a replacement for Harry Maguire at the back would be of interest; however, the scheduled transfer of the Englishman to West Ham has been cancelled.

Although Pavard has been connected to a move to Old Trafford and United has previously had a bid turned down by Bayern, it seems the team is still pursuing a prospective signing.

The Red Devils and Pavard received an update on Wednesday morning from the German outlet Bild, according to The Faithful MUFC.

They assert that an agreement has been reached about the player’s transfer to Old Trafford, probably on personal terms, and that Bayern Munich would consider selling if a bid of about €50 million (£42.9 million) was offered.

Where is Benjamin Pavard a musician?

Although they paid £60 million for Mount, who was also under contract, Man United may view Pavard’s €50 million asking price as exorbitant given that he is now earning £116,000 per week in Munich and is in the final year of his contract.

However, the France international would be a very versatile addition to Ten Hag’s team as he can play both center-back and right-back, making him a smart signing for the present season and beyond.

While acknowledging that his primary position is in the centre, Pavard has asserted that he is superior to Trent Alexander Arnold of Liverpool and Archaf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain at right-back.

“A central defender is what I do. This has always been my favourite place to be since it makes me feel most relaxed and at ease. I’m at my most comfortable here. I believe that in this role, we get to see more of my strengths.

“The top coaches must have faith in my ability if they place me on the right side. I’ve always held a position with Deschamps. He doesn’t trust me because of my gorgeous eyes or hair. He is conscious of my attributes. After that, there are still some things I need to work on: I need to take more risks and initiative. I’m conscious of this and I work on it every day.

“A defender must first play strong defence. Pavard may appear to be less attractive than Hakimi, Arnold, but I feel more complete defensively.

In the upcoming weeks, it will be intriguing to watch if United makes another attempt to approach Bayern’s asking price. However, any attempt could be contingent on outgoings, so a deal might not be completed in time.
