“A real eye-opener” – Reporter surprised after hearing who MUFC could sign instead of Amrabat

Tyler Adams, a defensive midfielder for Leeds United, has a relegation release clause in his current contract at Elland Road, which transfer insider Dean Jones claims could rekindle Manchester United’s interest in him this summer.

Which summer league clubs are interested in Tyler Adams?
The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea and Aston Villa are both willing to activate Adams’ £25 million release clause in order to bring the American international to Stamford Bridge.

The injured midfielder has been out since March with a hamstring problem, and three other teams are interested in him: Nottingham Forest, Brighton & Hove Albion, and West Ham United.

Adams made 26 appearances for the Whites in all competitions last season, according to Transfermarkt, and was a rare bright spot in a miserable Leeds United team.

Football Insider claimed earlier this year that Manchester United had considered Adams as a potential summer hire after being struck by his “dynamism and energy” in the Elland Road engine room.

The Moroccan international is said to be desperate to move to the North West, despite additional admiration from West Ham and Saudi Arabia, according to The Mirror, who also claims that Fiorentina defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is now in the Red Devils’ sights as Erik Ten Hag seeks to protect his back four.

Transfer insider Jones told Football FanCast that if Manchester United is unsuccessful in their pursuit of Amrabat, Adams of Leeds United may once more be given consideration at Old Trafford.

The rivalry between Leeds and Manchester United will always exist, according to Jones, but at this particular time when they are playing in very different leagues and facing very different circumstances, it’s intriguing to consider how they might interact.

“The coverage surrounding Adams having a release clause is a real eye-opener, and United have definitely looked at him in the past. If a deal for Amrabat didn’t materialise, then maybe that is something they could look into, especially since Leeds are being linked with Brandon Williams and teams might be talking to each other anyway.

It would still be surprising if Adams was at Leeds by the end of the transfer window. “One big worry around Adams will be his recent injury. I know a couple of clubs have been somewhat deterred by that.”

What will Manchester United do next?
This summer, Manchester United will hope to keep making shrewd hiring decisions as Ten Hag works to assemble a team that can contend for the Premier League championship.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that Northern Ireland international Jonny Evans, who signed a brief contract with Manchester United to take part in preseason, is close to signing a one-year contract at Old Trafford after impressing during his brief stay at the club.

The Red Devils may also attempt to outbid Liverpool for the services of Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, though The Independent reports that Chelsea and Arsenal have also shown interest in the Belgian international.

Rasmus Hojlund, a striker for Atalanta, will reportedly be introduced as a Manchester United player soon after the two parties reached an agreement on a £72 million transfer fee for the international from Denmark, according to Sky Sports.
