Ten Hag could finally cash in on Man Utd’s “woeful” £120k-p/w dud, Amrabat is better

Erik ten Hag wants to strengthen his team, so it appears that Manchester United is stepping up their efforts in the transfer window.

Rasmus Hojlund’s potential signing is still confidently anticipated by Mason Mount and Andre Onana, who have already arrived.

The Old Trafford team might also be planning to offload a few players this summer in order to raise money for newcomers, with Fred drawing attention.

Possibly, Fred could leave Manchester United.
Galatasaray and the Red Devils have ‘intensified talks’ regarding a transfer for Fred this summer, claims Turkish outlet NTV Spor.

The Brazilian’s asking price has reportedly been set by United at €15 million (£12 million), though the Turkish champions are attempting to negotiate a deal that includes bonuses while lowering the asking price as much as they can.

The 30-year-old’s current £120,000 per week contract expires in just one year, so Ten Hag will need to offload him during the current transfer window if he wants to get a fair price for the midfielder.

Who could succeed Fred?
The former Shakhtar Donetsk starlet cost a whopping £47 million back in the summer of 2018 and has fallen short of this price tag during his five seasons in Manchester. Whatever happens, United is poised to suffer a significant loss on this deal.

Just 33 goals have been scored by Fred in 213 games, and the writer Si Lloyd even referred to him as “consistently woeful” in 2019.

Last season, he had his most productive goals and assists seasons, tallying six of each, but he only started 23 of the 56 games he appeared in, suggesting that Ten Hag does not fully trust him in the starting XI.

Sportitalia reports that Sofyan Amrabat has been “presented” with an offer by the Old Trafford club in advance of a possible summer transfer. The Moroccan international could be a significant improvement over Fred.

The Fiorentina midfielder had a higher pass completion rate (88.8% to 79.1%), made more progressive passes (176 to 76), and was more successful with a higher percentage of take-ons (70.6% to 37.5%) than the Brazilian, who scored two league goals to Amrabat’s zero, suggesting that Fred might not be the best fit for Ten Hag’s tactical system.

The 26-year-old powerhouse ranks highly in comparison to positional peers across Europe’s top five leagues for a number of passing metrics, including placing in the top 5% for passes completed (88.8%) and top 8% for progressive passes per (7.93) per 90, demonstrating that in addition to being at ease with circulating the ball, he also frequently makes forward passes.

A transfer for the player who shone for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup and assisted them in reaching the semifinals would make perfect sense.

He is not only four years younger than the Brazilian, but the Dutch coach, for whom he played at Utrecht between 2015 and 2017, would benefit greatly from his impressive passing skills.

The decision to replace Fred with Amrabat could be very wise if Ten Hag is serious about competing for national and European honours. Ten Hag must improve his squad this summer.
